Morning, Bucks County. Peddler's Village has OctoberFeast on Saturday and Sunday, and admission and parking are both free. First up, though, this week's video looks at Doylestown Borough's new in-law suite rules. The short version: adding one takes the Zoning Hearing Board's approval.

In this issue:

  • Doylestown's in-law suite rules

  • A brass band and beer garden in Lahaska

  • Bella, the Velcro cat in Quakertown

Let's get to it.

THIS WEEK'S VIDEO · DOYLESTOWN BOROUGH

Doylestown Borough adds a path for in-law suites

Doylestown Borough's New In-Law Suite Rules video thumbnail

Doylestown Borough now allows an accessory dwelling unit, often called an in-law suite, by special exception in its R1, R2, R3 and CR zoning districts. This week's video looks at the new borough rules.

  • Why it matters: Homeowners in those districts now have a way to add a second unit, but it isn't automatic. Ordinance 2026-13 allows one per lot and requires an extra off-street parking space, among other conditions.

  • What's next: Check your zoning with the borough before planning work. Its residential hearing application fee is $1,500, plus half the stenographer's cost. Other permit costs are separate.

OctoberFeast brings a German brass band to Peddler's Village

OctoberFeast returns to Peddler's Village Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10–11, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission and parking are free; food and activities are pay as you go.

  • Brass tacks: The Philadelphia German Brass Band plays noon–5 p.m. both days. The beer garden is in Red Barn Field.

  • Small fry: Give & Take Jugglers perform 1–4 p.m. and the petting zoo runs noon–4 p.m., both days on Street Road Green.

PET OF THE WEEK · BUCKS COUNTY SPCA, QUAKERTOWN

Bella would like your attention

The shelter calls Bella "a Velcro cat." She'll follow you anywhere just to be close. When she wants attention, she'll meow for it or sit at your feet and wait. She also rubs up against you to ask. Bella is a 7-year-old Bengal, and the shelter says she may be clingy. Once she starts purring and making biscuits, though, that's hard to hold against her. If you've been wanting a shadow with whiskers, ask about Bella.

Good to know: Bella has a medical condition her adopter will need to keep in mind, and the shelter hasn't posted the details online. Call the Quakertown shelter at 267-347-4674 to talk through her care needs before adopting. She's spayed and not declawed.

Bucks County SPCA, Quakertown. Availability can change, so check the listing first.
